Reading

These are samples from the 3-page Recommended Book List that all my clients receive on the first visit. Each client receives a personally prioritized list of 4 or 5 to start with - books that will immediately provide needed relief or understanding.

Since I work from a science base, this is the common grouping I recommend as the best in their categories for most people and couples. And I often prioritize the reading (and healing) in this order:

  1. THE FOUR AGREEMENTS ( is very good on Audible, also)
  2. 30 COVERT EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION TACTICS ( get the book only )
  3. RETHINKING NARCISSISM ( the book is best)
  4. WHEN YOUR RELATIONSHIP CHANGES - A WOMAN’S JOURNEY ( you HAVE to know this stuff)
  5. THE NAKED TRUTH ABOUT MEN ( you HAVE to know this stuff)
  6. THE FIVE LOVE LANGUAGES and THE FIVE LOVE LANGUAGES OF CHILDREN
  7. WHEN SORRY ISN’T ENOUGH (same author as the Five Love Languages)
  8. GROW UP: HOW TAKING RESPONSIBILITY CAN MAKE YOU A HAPPY ADULT (my all-time favorite big picture analysis)
  9. THE SECRET WORDS OF SUCCESS: The life-changing words successful people use most
  10. THE UNTETHERED SOUL (for that irritating voice inside your head)
  11. DIVORCING A NARCISSIST - Advice from the Battlefield

The science of healthy grownups who then create healthy relationships using common sense and mature thinking is explained wisely and carefully in these important books.

This knowledge will shorten your time in counseling and significantly enhance your lives. There is no better investment in yourself than knowledge.

Many are available on Audible, though I don’t know exactly which works have a narrator’s voice that may be intolerable for you 😉.

Here’s to your health and happiness!

Words to live by

When our words and deeds pass the Rotary 4-Way test, we succeed:
"Is it the truth?"
"Is is fair to all concerned?"
"Will it create goodwill and better friendships?"
"Will it be beneficial to all concerned?"
